Tasting Guatemalan Coffees
Indulging flavors for quality-coffee lovers

On July 31, a special tasting was offered to green coffee importers, wholesalers, roasters, retailers and other people related to the Japanese coffee market.

During the activity, Christian Rasch, Chairman to the Guatemalan National Coffee Association (Anacafé), gave a presentation to help participants understand important facts about Guatemalan Coffees.  The main topics developed include the mutual benefit relation between our shade-grown coffee and nature preservation, Guatemalan coffee regions, Anacafé’s action plan to comply Japan’s food safety program, export data and statistics and technological advances attained to promote traceability and commercial transparency.

Attendees had the opportunity to taste and compare three of our renowned regional coffees with three exceptional auction winning coffees.  The samples were cupped as follows:

  1. Fraijanes Plateau – El Socorro y Anexos farm
  2. Antigua Coffee – San José Ocaña farm
  3. Acatenango ValleyAsociación de Caficultores de San Cristóbal y Tamahú

“Results are satisfactory; attendees learned about our coffee, received the informative material Coffee Atlas 2007/2008 written in their own language and experienced the indulging flavors of Guatemalan Coffees,” said Rasch.
