May 2007
Nineteen coffee lots were selected
to be auctioned through the internet in the Cup of Excellence
(CoE) 2007 program.
This activity is promoted in Guatemala
by the Guatemalan National Coffee Association (Anacafé,
by its Spanish acronym) and the Alliance for Coffee Excellence
(ACE).
From the 117 coffee samples presented
at the beginning of the process, 61 were chosen to participate
in the National Competition. After that, 43 qualified for the
International Competition, and the result from this last phase
was a selection of nineteen of the finest and very rare coffees
that will participate in the internet auction that will take
place on June 14.
The International Competition was
developed by 22 prestigious and experienced international cuppers.
The evaluating panel was formed by six Japanese representatives,
four Americans, six Europeans, three Guatemalans, one from
Russia and one from Taiwan, coordinated by Paul Songer, CoE’s
Technical Director.
These nineteen coffee lots selected
come from different places in our country and represent an
admirable example of the quality beans harvested in Guatemala,
said Christian Rasch, Anacafé’s Chariman, referring
to this satisfying result.
If you are interested in buying these
exceptional coffees, you can register at www.cupofexcellence.org
