Green Fact
Guatemalan Coffees are 98% shade grown.
This allows coffee beans to mature slowly, improving the attributes of body and acidity in the cup.

PUERTA VERDE
Ciudad Vieja, SACATEPEQUEZ

“Puerta Verde, la puerta al mejor café de Antigua” (“Green Door, the gate to best coffee in Antigua”).

Puerta Verde´s Farm is located in Ciudad Vieja, Sacatapéquez. Puerta Verde’s name come from a green door that, since the beginning of our family’s coffee adventure, jealously kept our richest soil and the heritage to the best coffee grown in the area.

Puerta Verde Farm is owned and operated by brothers and sisters committed to quality and a firm understanding of the importance of preserving environment.

It all began at the end of the 19th century, when our family begun exploring, the fascinating world of coffee and bringing into being an exotic concoction incipiently conceived in far away lands known as “Qahwa”.

Today, we feel fortunate in being part of a fourth generation of coffee growers nestled in a magical valley high up on the mountains, the valley of Panchoy, where the best coffee in the world is produced.

Quality has always been characteristic of our coffee. Quality germinates from Antigua’s blessed, proud and knowledgeable people, its rich volcanic soil, its latitude, longitude and altitude, its crystal clear water and Mother Nature’s own microclimate and best agricultural practices.

It follows and concludes with a selection of varieties suitable to the location but with the outmost regard to engender an exceptional “taza”, keen organoleptic properties detected by smell and taste proper of a coffee taster.

Our traditional shade grown coffee selfishly protects the soil from sunlight, erosion and maintains the ecological environment friendly by protecting or housing the many insects and animals, including native and migratory birds.

The farm does not have an own wet mill, so our coffee is process in eco friendly millers, who apply the best mill practices. The eco friendly mills, process the coffee pulp and other organic materials to use it as organic fertilizer.

All our coffee is sun dry in patios to finish the process, to enjoy a great aroma, persevering body and a fully flavor of our strictly hard bean.

Come on! Enjoy our truly wonderful coffee!
